New details have been released regarding the man who was killed on Ohio 16 Monday morning.
At approximately 6:45 a.m. on Jan. 7, Roderick Walcott, 44, of Frazeysburg, stopped off the north side of Ohio 16 in Muskingum County near mile marker four, exiting his vehicle. Walcott was then struck by a utility truck traveling westbound. The truck did not stop after striking Walcott, and continued westbound, according to a press release from the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
A second vehicle, a maroon Honda Insight driven by Daniel Fellers, 20, of New Philedalphia, then struck Walcott as he was laying in the roadway. Fellers stopped and remained on scene to speak with first responders.
Walcott was later pronounced dead at the scene.
At 2:30 p.m. the same day, Ohio State Highway Patrol investigators located the first vehicle, a 2018 Freightliner utility truck owner by Thayer Power Communication Line of Reynoldsburg, near Grove City. The driver, 30-year-old Jordan Kirk of West Lafayette was interviewed, according to the press release.
The crash remains under investigation.
