Why are fighter jets flying over the Cincinnati area? They’re running from Hurricane Michael.

Tyndall Air Force Base, located just east of Panama City, Florida, has ordered an evacuation of its aircraft as Michael bares down on the Florida Panhandle.

As a result, dozens of the base’s aircraft are flying to different bases across the country.

Some are flying to Forth Worth Alliance Base in Texas.

Others are flying to Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio, located about 60 miles north of Cincinnati.

Some in the Cincinnati area may notice the military aircraft flying overhead in coming days.

Tyndall Air Force Base has not released a timeline of the evacuations, but the order to evacuate aircraft was issued Monday. Hurricane Michael is expected to reach Florida’s Gulf coast Wednesday.

So far, the base has not ordered an evacuation of base personnel.
