Altercare Integrated Health Services will expand its operations with the addition Ohio care facilities operated by Greystone Healthcare Management.
Altercare, which is part of Schroer Group, will add six centers effective on Thursday and two remaining facilities in the next several months. The additions will give Altercare 29 facilities in Ohio and Michigan. The companies said they are actively working to close the proposed transfer of operations.
Greystone has operated facilities and provided services in 20 communities in Florida and seven in Ohio.
Altercare, which has six facilities in Stark County, will add 541 licensed beds at Greystone operations in Adena, Cambridge, Coshocton, Newark, Sonerset, Thornville and Zanesville. All of those communities would be new for Altercare, which also has centers in the Cleveland, Columbus and Akron areas.
Connie Bessler, Greystone president and chief executive officer, called Altercare “a highly-respected provider of rehabilitation, nursing and residential services.” Greystone officials believed Altercare “would best benefit our employees and residents,” adding that the company’s resources and presence in Ohio is a positive.
Gregory Colaner, Altercare president, said in a statement that the company is “honored by the opportunity to provide an enriching lifestyle balanced with supportive, expert care and services to residents and employees” at the Greystone facilities. “We are fortunate to work together with our new teams and centers,” he said.
The Schroer family formed Altercare in 1973. The company has grown to include nursing and rehabilitation centers, along with Absolute Health Services, based in North Canton, and Avalon Foodservice, based in Canal Fulton.
