A woman and her son were killed in their home Wednesday night when a suspect trying to escape police crashed his vehicle into the house, reports say.
Authorities on Thursday identified the victims as Maria Davis, 39, and her son, Jerome, 7, the Dayton Daily News reports.
An unidentified third person in the house was not injured.
According to WHIO Channel 7, a police officer was patrolling in the neighborhood late Wednesday night when he spotted a reportedly stolen car, which immediately sped off.
Just moments later, the panicked driver crashed into the living room of the house.
Marla Davis was pronounced dead at the scene while Jerome died at a hospital.
Police arrested one suspect, Kesean W. Parks, 24, although it’s unclear if he was driving or was a passenger in the vehicle, the Daily News reports. He faces preliminary charges of carrying a concealed weapon and possession of drugs. He is scheduled to appear on court today.
Police are still searching for a second suspect.
The Daily News reports Davis and her son had been burned out of their previous home just six months earlier.
