CLEVELAND, Ohio — A Cleveland man is facing a felony charge that accuses him of shooting a woman in the arm with a semiautomatic rifle shortly after he learned she is pregnant with his child.
Anthony B. Price, 27, is charged with felonious assault in the Thursday shooting on West 83rd Street near Lorain Avenue, according to court records.
A judge set Price’s bond at $100,000 at his Saturday arraignment, according to Cleveland Municipal Court records.
He remains in custody at the Cuyahoga County Jail.
Price is scheduled to appear at a preliminary hearing June 26, court records say.
He is accused of firing a semiautomatic rifle at a 30-year-old womanas she ran from a home in Cleveland’s Detroit-Shoreway neighborhood, according to a police report.
The shot hit the woman’s left arm, but she continued to run away, the report says. Officers found her on West 85th Street, and Cleveland EMS took her to MetroHealth for treatment.
The woman’s mother told Cleveland police officers that Price recently learned the woman is pregnant with his child, the report says.
Price admitted to shooting at the woman but said it was accidental, the report says.
Price’s criminal history includes a 2010 conviction for aggravated robbery, according to Cuyahoga County court records. He was sentenced to three years in prison in that case.
