Stipe Miocic may very well be the greatest heavyweight in UFC history. But that hasn’t stopped Daniel Cormier from looking past him a little bit.
The UFC recently confirmed that Cormier will defend his UFC Heavyweight Championship against Stipe Miocic on Aug. 17 at UFC 241. When the two fought last July, Cormier KO’d Miocic to take the title.
Despite the rematch being just a few months away, Cormier is eying another fight that would close out his career – A third bout with Jon Jones.
“It’s all I want,” Cormier said in an interview with ESPN. “When I fight Jones, I feel most complete when I’m preparing for competition against that guy. It makes me train harder. It makes me train smarter… and I believe that if I do stick around that would be the fight that I do it for.”
Cormier has already lost to Jones twice. Though, one of those results was changed to a No Contest after Jones tested positive for steroids.
