Former Ohio State quarterback Troy Smith is often thought of for his on-field greatness, which featured winning the Heisman Trophy during the 2006 season, multiple wins against rival Michigan and leading the Buckeyes to an undefeated season and the national championship game during his senior year.
But lately, Smith has only been in the news for legal issues, the latest coming on Friday night, when he was reportedly arrested by the Franklin County Sherrif’s Office for operating a vehicle while impaired (OVI) and possession of drug paraphernalia, per ABC6 Columbus.
Smith was stopped at a DUI checkpoint at 9 PM EST, when deputies detected a strong odor of marijuana coming from his car. He refused all field tests upon being pulled over and his vehicle was impounded.
Back in April 2016, Smith was arrested for drunk driving, seemingly making this a troubling pattern of events.
