Gov. Mark Dayton on Friday issued an executive order directing a Minnesota National Guard helicopter and response team to assist with hurricane relief efforts in North Carolina.
The team includes four crew members and one liaison officer traveling on a CH-47 Chinook heavy transport helicopter to provide general personnel and aviation support to relief efforts on the East Coast.
“I thank the courageous Minnesota National Guard soldiers who will provide this critical assistance,” Dayton said. “Minnesotans stand ready to assist in any way we are able.”
The support is provided through the Emergency Management Assistance Compact, a mutual aid agreement between all 50 states.
