The staff at the Portage County Animal Protective League is hoping an emaciated dog found dumped on the side of the road can make a full recovery.
The male husky was found near-death on Lake Rockwell Road in Ravenna last week, according to the Portage County APL.
Initially, the animal shelter did not post photos of the dog because his chance of surviving was in question, but veterinarians believe he could pull through because testing only showed signs of severe starvation.
“He is still anemic and is taking food every few hours,” the Portage County APL wrote on Facebook. “He is still weak but he is able to walk now, which we are very happy to hear.”
The husky is estimated to be no older than 4 years old, but only weighed 18 pounds when he was found.
“In the meantime, if you recognize him or know what happened, we would love to know who did this to him,” the Portage County APL added.
Donations for the dog’s recovery and assistance for all other animals at the Portage County APL can be made here.
