A Kentucky World War II hero who was recently honored with the French Legion of Honor has passed away.
LTC William Pollard passed away sometime over the weekend. LTC Pollard’s death was announced by Secretary of State Alison Lundergan Grimes.
In November, Pollard was honored for his contribution to the liberation of France during WWII.
The ceremony was held in the state capitol and was attended by Governor Matt Bevin, Secretary Grimes, Rep. Rick Rand, and U.S. Army Brigadier General (Ret.) Benjamin F. Adams, Commissioner of the Kentucky Department of Veterans Affairs.
Pollard was 100 years old.
