Students at Ohio State were put on alert Friday night when a student was robbed at gunpoint.
According to Columbus police, the armed robbery happened off-campus in the area of Pearl Street and Chittenden Avenue around 8 p.m.
Police said an unknown man approached a male Ohio State student, displayed a silver handgun and stole a backpack and phone before fleeing the scene.
The student ran to a nearby parking garage to notify law enforcement. No injuries were reported.
The suspect was described as a black male with a light complexion in his early 20s with short hair or a shaved head standing 6’1” and weighing 160 pounds. At the time of the incident, he was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and dark pants.
This is the third robbery to happen in that area in just a week.
Ohio State University Police said two armed robberies took place Sunday in an off-campus area near Chittenden and 11th Avenues.
