DAYTON, Ohio – A man was shot by police Monday morning at the Samaritan CrisisCare Center at Elizabeth Place and Edwin C. Moses.
Dayton Police Chief Richard Biehl says a man in his 30s was coming off drugs at the facility at about 8:20 a.m. Police tried to use a taser on him at first, but he began to move toward one of the officer’s weapon.
That’s when one of the officers fired, shooting him in the hip-area. He was taken away by medics with non-life threatening injuries.
Police say the man is from the Toledo area and are currently running background checks on him.
The two officers involved in the incident have been placed on paid administrative leave, which is standard procedure in officer-involved shootings.
The intersection of Elizabeth Place and Edwin C. Moses remains closed while police investigate.
