A Trinity High School teacher has been fired and is accused of giving students alcohol in the school’s parking lot, the school’s principal told cleveland.com.
The incident happened in the parking lot at the school on Granger Road near East 126th Street, Trinity High School Principal Lynn Bacho said.
The school’s administration was notified Saturday about the incident that happened after a community event the previous night.
School officials have not identified the teacher. Bacho says a report was filed with Garfield Heights police.
The school administration originally suspended the teacher pending an internal investigation. The district decided to release the teacher after additional information was brought to administrators’ attention, Bacho said.
Students and their parents met with school officials Tuesday to discuss the incident.
“As always, protecting the safety and well-being of the students entrusted to our care is our highest priority,” the administration said in a statement. “At no time during the event on May 3 was alcohol accessible or made available to students.”
The incident also has been reported to the Ohio Department of Education.
